ConverterSearchPlus is a browser hijacker application created with a singular purpose in mind - the promotion of a fake search engine. When ConverterSearchPlus is installed onto the user's computer, it will proceed to change certain browser settings. The homepage, new tab page, and the default search engine will all be set to open the convertersearchplus.com address. In conclusion, whenever the affected browser is simply opened, it will be generating artificial traffic towards the promoted search engine.

Infosec researchers call search engines such as convertersearchplus.com fake because of a rather glaring omission in the design - these search engines cannot provide search results on their own. They take the search queries conducted into the overtaken browser and redirect them through a legitimate search engine - search.yahoo.com, in this case. What they can do, however, is inject sponsored links among the relevant results displayed to the user. In addition, browser hijackers are often equipped with various data-gathering capabilities. ConverterSearchPlus is no different. It can track opened pages, clicked URLs, access the search history, obtain the IP address, geolocation and the ISP potentially. It is strongly recommended to remove ConverterSearchPlus as soon as you notice any signs of its presence on your computer system.
