Web browser extensions are not always helpful and entertaining – sometimes, their developers may promote them because of personal gain. Such is the case with DictionaryBoss, a Google Chrome extension that claims to be an all-in-one tool when it comes to doing quick translations, finding synonyms of words or using other semantic tools swiftly. The catch is that the DictionaryBoss extension is developed and published by MyWay.com, a company associated with a large number of questionable browser add-ons that are categorized as Potentially Unwanted Programs (PUPs.)

The issue with the installation of the DictionaryBoss extension is that it will demand permission to replace your Web browser's new tab page with a MyWay.com-sponsored search page. While this is not the utmost issue, it may worsen the quality of your search results and expose you to more marketing content than you are used to seeing.

However, the installation of the DictionaryBoss is not a threat, and you are welcome to keep on using this add-on if you are not bothered by the fact that it replaces your default new tab page. Even though, if you dislike this Potentially Unwanted Program and the changes it brings, then you should use a reliable security tool to ensure the full removal of its files. Usually, removing unwanted browser add-ons should revert the changes they made when they were installed automatically.
