DirectionsOnline

DirectionsOnline is a browser extension distributed by Mindspark Interactive Network, a software developer who specializes in creating browser utilities whose goal is to provide users with immediate access to a variety of interesting features such as online radios (RadioRage Toolbar), screenshot tool (SnapMyScreen), document converter (AllInOneDocs Toolbar) and others. As the name of DirectionsOnline suggests, the purpose of this tool is to give users a neat way to access local and world maps, as well as to get directions from the comfort of their Web browser. This tool may come in handy for users who are planning a trip in the upcoming weeks, but most people would not benefit from a feature like the one that DirectionsOnline offers.

The installation of DirectionsOnline happens through two places – the official extension repositories of Chrome, Firefox, or Internet Explorer, as well as through the DirectionOnline's official website. Users who wish to install DirectionsOnline, however, need to agree to a certain thing in this extension's terms of service – they must allow it to modify their default new tab page. This change is not harmful, but it does replace the user's new tab page with a version of the MyWay.com search engine, which boasts some of DirectionsOnline's features. Users can access the online maps and directions directly from their new tab page. The search field featured on MyWay.com uses the Yahoo Search to deliver results to users, and it does not allow users to switch the default search provider used by the page.

Computer security products detect and remove DirectionsOnline as a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP), and users who don't wish to use this extension may want to consider removing it soon. The use of cyber security software is not mandatory because DirectionsOnline is not unsafe, and its removal can be performed via the EWeb browser's settings panel manually.
