Threat Metric
The following fields listed on the Threat Meter containing a specific value, are explained in detail below:
Threat Level: The threat level scale goes from 1 to 10 where 10 is the highest level of severity and 1 is the lowest level of severity. Each specific level is relative to the threat's consistent assessed behaviors collected from SpyHunter's risk assessment model.
Detection Count: The collective number of confirmed and suspected cases of a particular malware threat. The detection count is calculated from infected PCs retrieved from diagnostic and scan log reports generated by SpyHunter.
Volume Count: Similar to the detection count, the Volume Count is specifically based on the number of confirmed and suspected threats infecting systems on a daily basis. High volume counts usually represent a popular threat but may or may not have infected a large number of systems. High detection count threats could lay dormant and have a low volume count. Criteria for Volume Count is relative to a daily detection count.
Trend Path: The Trend Path, utilizing an up arrow, down arrow or equal symbol, represents the level of recent movement of a particular threat. Up arrows represent an increase, down arrows represent a decline and the equal symbol represent no change to a threat's recent movement.
% Impact (Last 7 Days): This demonstrates a 7-day period change in the frequency of a malware threat infecting PCs. The percentage impact correlates directly to the current Trend Path to determine a rise or decline in the percentage.

Downloader.Generic14.HTD is a Trojan that exhibits a behavior characteristic of its downloading and installing unwanted or threatening software. Most of the common variants of Downloader.Generic14.HTD Trojans display behaviors such as concealing their primary files in a temporary file folder or generating excessive memory processes (with a corresponding drop in your system performance). Since Downloader.Generic14.HTD may be linked to the presence of other threats, malware researchers recommend using in-depth anti-malware solutions to remove Downloader.Generic14.HTD and any other threats that may have a relationship with its attacks.
Downloader.Generic14.HTD: a New Peak in Memory Problems
Downloader.Generic14.HTD is a heuristic classification for a program that may download other software or files automatically, often to the detriment of your PC's safety. While Downloader.Generic14.HTD may encompass a variety of threatening and unwanted programs, malware experts often identify Downloader.Generic14.HTD as using semi-random, non-descriptive file names, such as db29.exe, n07MVeR1.exe, or Tkp17K4r.exe. Most versions of Downloader.Generic14.HTD are traced to the Windows\Temp folder (or equivalent for your version of Windows), although Downloader.Generic14.HTD isn't an ordinary, temporary system file.
Downloader.Generic14.HTD often only is detected from its presence in your Windows memory processes under one of the above names, or when its activities cause unusual performance problems. By default, typical Downloader.Generic14.HTD Trojans will launch themselves automatically and generate repeated memory instances of themselves, which it may use for activities such as creating pop-ups, sending spam or conducting advertising traffic fraud. Although the infected PC is not always the target of Downloader.Generic14.HTD's attacks, they may cause slowdowns or cause other programs to crash incidentally.
Possibly due to its typical file location, Downloader.Generic14.HTD frequently is identified as a component of Adpeak, an adware program. Like other Trojan downloaders, Downloader.Generic14.HTD may be used to update files associated with adware, although the symptoms malware experts have examined so far don't correspond to those of a simple PUP. Until determined otherwise, Downloader.Generic14.HTD should be treated as a possible infection by threatening software, instead of the presence of an unwanted but harmless program.
Taking a Specific Route to Get Rid of a Generic Trojan
Along with this Trojan's inherent traits, malware experts also warn that Downloader.Generic14.HTD rarely is found without other threats associated with it. These threats may be installed by Downloader.Generic14.HTD or may be responsible for Downloader.Generic14.HTD's original installation. In either case, prolonged inattention to a Downloader.Generic14.HTD infection may result in other issues against your PC not covered in this article, such as being linked to a botnet or suffering from backdoor attacks.
Downloader.Generic14.HTD Trojans may be reinstalled by related threats and may use various methods to block their deletion (such as requiring admin account privileges to access its file). To prevent these characteristics from averting a proper disinfection, you should restart in Safe Mode, or through a safe USB device, and use all appropriate system-scanning features from your updated anti-malware products. As noted earlier, while some software may confuse Downloader.Generic14.HTD for AdPeak, you still should remove Downloader.Generic14.HTD, like any Trojan, with anti-malware tools that can identify Downloader.Generic14.HTD as a potential threat.
