DriverMax

DriverMax is a piece of software whose advertisements may promise to provide you with one-of-a-kind solution to keep all your system drivers up-to-date. Many users might be tempted to install this tool since having to check for driver updates manually may be a tedious process if you are not very tech-savvy, especially. However, the installation of DriverMax will not be enough to provide you with the features you were promised – the free version of DriverMax will scan your PC for running drivers only, and then generate a report with the recommended updates. However, if you wish to apply these updates automatically, you may be asked to purchase a license key for the full version of this application.

While the behavior mentioned above is not suspicious, you should know that DriverMax may exaggerate the importance of some updates to make it more likely that you will opt to buy the full product. This is considered to be a misleading marketing practice, and software that exhibits such behavior should not be considered trustworthy.

DriverMax is classified as a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) by multiple anti-virus vendors. While the removal of this software is not mandatory, it is the recommended thing to do if you do not plan on purchasing the full version of the software. Last but not least, it is important to add that the full version of DriverMax works as expected, and it will apply automatic driver updates – however, this does not change the fact that it may use misleading advertisements and prompts to lure in more customers.
