DuckRAT
Remote Access Trojans (RATs) are amidst the most threatening malware types because of their ability to give a remote attacker full access to the infected computer. This malware often is being spread via torrent trackers, fake downloads, bogus email attachments, and other content that users are likely to find in non-trustworthy websites. A relatively unknown RAT has been detected online recently, and it has been given the name DuckRAT.
The threat appears to have been around for over two years, but it is not very well-known because of its relatively low usage. The fact that the payload is unknown certainly does not mean that this threat is undetectable – any modern anti-virus solution is able to identify and eradicate the DuckRAT's files and prevent it from causing trouble.
DuckRAT's attack may often go unnoticed because this threat does a good job of hiding its presence. While active, it may enable a remote attacker to collect files, monitor you, collect login credentials, manage your files and more. Of course, the DuckRAT also allows the attacker to deploy additional malware that may carry out specialized attacks such as hijacking your Windows clipboard or logging keystrokes.
To prevent having issues with DuckRAT, you should use the protective services offered by up-to-date anti-virus software.
