Threat Metric
The following fields listed on the Threat Meter containing a specific value, are explained in detail below:
Threat Level: The threat level scale goes from 1 to 10 where 10 is the highest level of severity and 1 is the lowest level of severity. Each specific level is relative to the threat's consistent assessed behaviors collected from SpyHunter's risk assessment model.
Detection Count: The collective number of confirmed and suspected cases of a particular malware threat. The detection count is calculated from infected PCs retrieved from diagnostic and scan log reports generated by SpyHunter.
Volume Count: Similar to the detection count, the Volume Count is specifically based on the number of confirmed and suspected threats infecting systems on a daily basis. High volume counts usually represent a popular threat but may or may not have infected a large number of systems. High detection count threats could lay dormant and have a low volume count. Criteria for Volume Count is relative to a daily detection count.
Trend Path: The Trend Path, utilizing an up arrow, down arrow or equal symbol, represents the level of recent movement of a particular threat. Up arrows represent an increase, down arrows represent a decline and the equal symbol represent no change to a threat's recent movement.
% Impact (Last 7 Days): This demonstrates a 7-day period change in the frequency of a malware threat infecting PCs. The percentage impact correlates directly to the current Trend Path to determine a rise or decline in the percentage.

Dym is a Potentially Unwanted Program that delivers advertisements to your browser. Although this browser extension isn't threatening, malware experts have seen frequent samples of Dym advertisements-based content including potentially hazardous or misleading advertising, and any contact with Dym is undertaken at your own risk. PC users interested in uninstalling Dym for the sake of their browser's safety can apply traditional anti-adware solutions for the best rate of success.
The Advertisements Riding in with Your Music
PUPs and adware may be seen in almost any Web browser, but Chrome is a browser malware experts have seen being targeted with notable prominence. Dym keeps in line with this overall adware migration and only has been confirmed for modifying that browser. Its advertising functions are standard for any add-on of its type and include injecting advertising banners and thumbnails into unrelated Web pages as you browse them.
Apart from the potential dangers of viewing advertisements from an arbitrary source, malware experts also found an additional problem with Dym's campaign: its distribution method. Most reported installations of Dym extensions are non-consensual, with the culprit being a second freeware product that bundle the adware with it. Some of these guilty freeware programs, such as VK Music Downloader, can be found on the official Web store for Chrome extensions and add-ons.
Many installations of Dym also may use misleading file names or obfuscate their presence from your browser's extension manager. However, Dym also may deliver its advertisements with a corresponding label, which allows PC users to identify the source of the advertising if not necessarily remove Dym.
Dimming the Lights on Dym Advertisements
PC users with the idealism to follow Dym's recommended solution to remove its software may find that its associated website, Advertising-Support.com, fails to follow through on deleting the extension. Even ignoring the dangers of allowing an untrustworthy site to 'scan' your browser for invisible extensions, malware researchers see no motivations for failing to use anti-adware products to find and delete Dym posthaste. A complete uninstall routine also should remove any advertisements from Chrome, but you also may be required to reset your browser's settings partially or wholly.
The lack of Dym's classification as threatening doesn't necessarily indicate that its advertisements are safe. Dym may be a source of potentially threatening advertisements, such as phishing attacks that collect information after conning a Web surfer into clicking their advertisements. Simple education about common Web-based threats can keep you from undertaking any actions that may harm yourself while anti-malware and anti-adware protection can block programs like Dym from exploiting your browser for padding their profit margins.
