Error-[RANDOM NUMBER].info are a series of domain names used to host fraudulent pages that try to fool users to believe that their computers are in danger due to different problems – corrupted system files, software malfunction, malware infection, hacker attack, hardware problems, or other severe issues. These pages may display nagging pop-ups, play audio files in the background, and perform other annoying tasks whose purpose is to trick the user into believing that the errors they are seeing are legitimate and that they need to do something to prevent the situation from escalating. Some of the domains linked to Error-[RANDOM NUMBER].info are:

error-8435118.info, error-2071127.info, error-2314505.info, error-2531287.info, error-9490662.info, error-0805166.info, error-2835644.info, error-5734154.info, error-7483143.info, error-8478060.info, error-3187659.info, error-3543611.info, error-4171251.info, error-5963280.info, error-4983715.info, error-7629338.info, error-2586294.info, error-0310765.info, error-1501358.info, error-9214253.info, error-9266418.info, error-2586294.info, error-5285357.info, error-8195590.info, error-9093535.info, error-1484696.info, error-2921464.info, error-3102460.info, error-8407593.info, error-9108636.info, error-3102957.info, error-7691709.inf

One of the fake error pop-ups that may be used by the domains that are part of this hoax are the 'Windows Has Been Blocked Due to Suspicious Activity' Pop-Ups, but it is very likely that some domains may host other fake alerts as well. One of the most recent domains we came across is error-2314505.info, and it uses exactly the pop-ups mentioned above to scare users into trusting every word the page says. The tactic works by promoting a fake technical support phone line (in the case of error-2314505.info, users are asked to call 208-068-3410). The page may promise visitors that calling 208-068-3410 will help them acquire the services of certified support agents who'll resolve any computer issue immediately. However, calling 208-068-3410 would not result in this and, instead, victims might be asked to pay hundreds of dollars for questionable software or services. Not only this, but some bolder con artists might request the victims' bank account details or permission to access their computers via a Remote Administration Software. Fulfilling any of the demands of questionable support technicians, like the ones behind 208-068-3410, is forbidden.

Usually, users encounter the Error-[RANDOM NUMBER].info pages and pop-ups while they browse low-quality websites. We advise our readers to use a reliable anti-malware software suite to keep them safe during their online ventures, as well as pay more attention to the quality and reputation of the sites they are browsing. It is recommended to stay away from low-quality pages related to the distribution of adult materials, illegal content, pirated software, or other pirated media.
