The Threat Meter is a malware assessment that SpywareRemove.com's research team is able to give every identifiable malware threat. Our Threat Meter includes several criteria based off of specific malware threats to value their severity, reach and volume. The Threat Meter is able to give you a numerical breakdown of each threat's initial Threat Level, Detection Count, Volume Count, Trend Path and Percentage Impact. The overall ranking of each threat in the Threat Meter is a basic breakdown of how all threats are ranked within our own extensive malware database. The scoring for each specific malware threat can be easily compared to other emerging threats to draw a contrast in its particular severity. The Threat Meter is a useful tool in the endeavor of seeking a solution to remove a threat or pursue additional analytical research for all types of computer users.

The following fields listed on the Threat Meter containing a specific value, are explained in detail below:

Threat Level: The threat level scale goes from 1 to 10 where 10 is the highest level of severity and 1 is the lowest level of severity. Each specific level is relative to the threat's consistent assessed behaviors collected from SpyHunter's risk assessment model.

Detection Count: The collective number of confirmed and suspected cases of a particular malware threat. The detection count is calculated from infected PCs retrieved from diagnostic and scan log reports generated by SpyHunter.

Volume Count: Similar to the detection count, the Volume Count is specifically based on the number of confirmed and suspected threats infecting systems on a daily basis. High volume counts usually represent a popular threat but may or may not have infected a large number of systems. High detection count threats could lay dormant and have a low volume count. Criteria for Volume Count is relative to a daily detection count.

Trend Path: The Trend Path, utilizing an up arrow, down arrow or equal symbol, represents the level of recent movement of a particular threat. Up arrows represent an increase, down arrows represent a decline and the equal symbol represent no change to a threat's recent movement.

% Impact (Last 7 Days): This demonstrates a 7-day period change in the frequency of a malware threat infecting PCs. The percentage impact correlates directly to the current Trend Path to determine a rise or decline in the percentage.

The Fast Free Converter is a video file converter that inexplicably markets itself through third party bundles that include distributions of popular software, such as Daemon Tools or Flash Player. While, as far as malware researchers have been able to conclude, the Fast Free Converter doesn't have any functions that would endanger your computer, software that uses these types of disingenuous installation methods usually should be considered undesirable for your computer. Like other Potentially Unwanted Programs, you should delete the Fast Free Converter with a good anti-malware product – particularly since the Fast Free Converter often is installed along with several other PUPs, as well.

When Free Isn't Always Good for Your Computer

The Fast Free Converter claims to offer file-converting features for both audio and video files, although malware experts only have confirmed the latter, so far. For reasons known only to its developers, the Fast Free Converter also makes the usual move of being installed in the format of a typical browser add-on despite lacking any Web-browsing features that would make such a format necessary. Other than some potentially fraudulent marketing claims, malware researchers haven't found any major problems with the Fast Free Converter, as long as you look at the program independently of its distribution methods.

Depressingly, the Fast Free Converter's primary model for distribution is even worse than its file-conversion functions and appears to rely on bundles with unrelated programs. Currently, the Fast Free Converter has been seen being distributed with unauthorized versions of Adobe's Flash Player and the Daemon Tools program. Although the Fast Free Converter does offer to allow you to opt out, these programs don't normally include the Fast Free Converter, and many careless updaters may install the Fast Free Converter by mistake when clicking through the process. While the Fast Free Converter is not a likely source of direct harm to your computer, allowing PUPs to remain on your computer may harm the overall performance or cause an inadvertent degradation of your Web-browsing security. Programs that install themselves in suspicious circumstances and tend to try to prevent their removal – just like the Fast Free Converter – always should be deleted with appropriate anti-malware tools, and SpywareRemove.com malware researchers note that any minimally competent brand of anti-malware product should be able to delete the Fast Free Converter with zero problems.

More than anything else, the Fast Free Converter is an example of the problems that come with trusting downloads from unofficial sources.
