Flashminer.online

Flashminer.online is a suspicious website, which offers visitors to download an extension called 'XMRS Miner.' According to the landing page found on the website, the extension is able to utilize the user's CPU to mine for the Monero cryptocurrency. The description states that users also can enter their Monero wallet to receive all mined funds there. While this may sound useful, you should keep in mind that running a tool like XMRS Miner might impair your system's performance since it is likely to use a significant portion of your CPU's available resources.

It is not uncommon for shady miners like this one also run additional instances of the miner, which generate money for the publisher, instead of the user. It is entirely possible that XMRS Miner might begin to carry out this activity as well, so you should think carefully whether you'd like to trust XMRS Miner, a browser add-on with zero reputation and reviews. In addition to the shady mining operations, the XMRS Miner utility demands to receive access to the user's browsing history and their e-mail address. While not unsafe, these actions are uncommon for Chrome add-ons, especially when there isn't an obvious explanation why the extension needs this data.

If you plan on mining cryptocurrencies, you should use legitimate mining software and stay away from shady tools like XMRS Miner. If you've installed this software recently, we advise you to take care of its removal by running a suitable PC security scanner.
