Home Malware Programs Browser Hijackers FoxSearch.me

FoxSearch.me

FoxSearch.me is a website, which hosts a simple search engine that delivers results by redirecting the user to Google.com. This is not a suspicious action and, in fact, many search engines work this way. However, FoxSearch.me attracted the attention of security researchers because this website might be popularized with the help of Potentially Unwanted Programs (PUPs) and browser hijackers whose purpose is to modify the browser's settings to redirect the user to FoxSearch.me regularly.

The software that causes these unwanted redirects may replace the browser's default new tab, homepage or search engine with FoxSearch.me. These changes are not harmful so that users should not feel threatened if they suddenly start seeing FoxSearch.me on a regular basis. However, the lack of harmful behavior certainly does not mean that you should continue using FoxSearch.me if it was brought to your Web browser without your knowledge. Often, the PUPs and hijackers that are meant to bring traffic to sites like FoxSearch.me may trick users into permitting them to tamper with their browser's configuration unknowingly. This is why we advise users who want to get rid of FoxSearch.me to run a suitable PC security tool that will help them detect and erase the software that brought FoxSearch.me to their browser. Usually, removing the source of the problem should revert the browser's settings to normal, but sometimes it might be necessary for users to restore the settings of their Web browser manually.
