gamesZone Search

Posted: July 4, 2017

The gamesZone Search is a rebranded extension that belongs to the software publisher nJoyapps who is behind software like nJoyGames Search and nJoyGames Start. The gamesZone Search extension appears to be almost identical to the latter two, and the only major difference can be found in their names. It is likely that the gamesZone Search software was released to trick users into thinking that they are about to use a new extension when, in fact, they'll still be taking advantage of the same features that other products of the nJoyapps portfolio have. nJoyapps is associated with other Potentially Unwanted Programs (PUPs) like nJoyPlay Now and nJoy Movies Search.

The good news is that the gamesZone Search is not deemed harmful, and the changes it may bring are just a bit annoying. When the gamesZone Search is installed, it will make it that all searches performed through the address bar will end up taking users to the Yahoo Search. In addition to this, the default new tab page will be replaced by a blank page – probably because of a bug in the gamesZone Search's configuration.

The removal of the gamesZone Search is recommended because this extension does not offer any valuable features, and all it does is to cause annoying redirects to other search engines. Users are advised to uninstall the gamesZone Search via their Web browser's settings manually or use a credible security tool, which excels at dealing with PUPs like the gamesZone Search.
