‘Getprotected.info’ Pop-Ups

Posted: September 11, 2015

Getprotected.info is a site that you should not trust because it promotes fake technical support. The people behind this scam try to convince the users that their PCs are infected with malware when the machines are most likely clean. If the computer users believe in this misleading information, the fraudsters will ask them to pay money for the sake of having their system fixed. Since you will receive absolutely nothing in return for your cash, you should not agree to pay. If you intentionally type the URL of getprotected.info in your browser, you will see only the front page of this site. However, the administrators of this fraudulent platform have created a browser hijacker. It is a web add-on that can automatically lead you towards a subdomain of this page, which appears in the getprotected.info/alerts section. The browser hijacker may breach the security of your PC when you load freeware through the "Quick" menu. This way you may not see the additional software that comes in a bundle. The main task of this extension is to redirect you towards the subdomain of getprotected.info on a regular basis. The false alerts appear on a Blue Screen of Death (BSoD) background to make you think the problem is associated with your Operating System (OS). If you do the wrong thing and call 855-376-4628 for assistance, the culprits on the other side of the phone will try to steal your money. They may also ask for remote access to your PC, which may result in a real infection. You should delete the browser hijacker behind getprotected.info with professional security software.
