'GoDaddy' Email Scam

Posted: March 26, 2021

Fake emails are one of the favorite tricks of cybercriminals and online con artists to induce their potential victims into performing potentially harmful actions. One of the massive email tactics active in the past few weeks is related to GoDaddy, a reputable company offering all sorts of domain and Web hosting services. Users of GoDaddy are being targeted with fraudulent emails claiming to come from the service, and their contents urge the recipient to update their account's credentials because of a pending switch to a different email provider. According to the fraudulent emails, this must be completed immediately, otherwise, users risk losing access to their account.

Needless to say, the 'GoDaddy' Email scam does not lead users to a legitimate page – instead, they will be taken to a phishing page designed to look like GoDaddy's original website. There, users may be asked to enter their username, password, email, and even their two-factor authentication code. If users are not careful, they may fall victim to the tactic unknowingly and have their GoDaddy account hijacked by the cybercriminals behind the tactic.

We advise you to be careful whenever you receive an unexpected email asking you to update your login credentials for services like GoDaddy. In such cases, it is recommended to ignore the links in the email and, instead, visit the website directly – this way, you will be 100% certain that you are browsing the legitimate page, and not a fake one set up by cybercriminals.
