Threat Metric
The following fields listed on the Threat Meter containing a specific value, are explained in detail below:
Threat Level: The threat level scale goes from 1 to 10 where 10 is the highest level of severity and 1 is the lowest level of severity. Each specific level is relative to the threat's consistent assessed behaviors collected from SpyHunter's risk assessment model.
Detection Count: The collective number of confirmed and suspected cases of a particular malware threat. The detection count is calculated from infected PCs retrieved from diagnostic and scan log reports generated by SpyHunter.
Volume Count: Similar to the detection count, the Volume Count is specifically based on the number of confirmed and suspected threats infecting systems on a daily basis. High volume counts usually represent a popular threat but may or may not have infected a large number of systems. High detection count threats could lay dormant and have a low volume count. Criteria for Volume Count is relative to a daily detection count.
Trend Path: The Trend Path, utilizing an up arrow, down arrow or equal symbol, represents the level of recent movement of a particular threat. Up arrows represent an increase, down arrows represent a decline and the equal symbol represent no change to a threat's recent movement.
% Impact (Last 7 Days): This demonstrates a 7-day period change in the frequency of a malware threat infecting PCs. The percentage impact correlates directly to the current Trend Path to determine a rise or decline in the percentage.

GoodTab Class is a browser hijacker that may redirect your browser to sites you didn't intend to load, such as undesirable search engines or homepages. These browser redirects may constitute a threat to your online security, along with your immediate ability to control your software. Accordingly, malware experts have classified GoodTab Class as a Potentially Unwanted Program or PUP, and advise deleting GoodTab Class with any appropriate, specialized security software.
What's So Bad about a Good Tab
GoodTab Class is a PUP that malware experts only have seen being installed to Internet Explorer, typically as a plugin (an optional browser component that interacts with Web pages designed for its content specifically). Unlike most plugins, however, GoodTab Class may install itself in formats that may prevent the PC user from disabling the plugin either temporarily or permanently. The means of distribution for GoodTab Class is still being analyzed, although malware experts tend to find similar products related to bundle installers and extensions.
GoodTab Class may be one component of an extension that may conduct a variety of different functions that may harm your ability to control your browser's content. Some of the most common side effects for GoodTab Class and GoodTab Class-related software may include:
- Your default homepage may lock itself to an unfamiliar site.
- Your Web searches may redirect themselves to unwanted sites, such as luckybeginning.com.
- New tabs may display unfamiliar Websites automatically.
In any of these scenarios, Internet Explorer's default browser settings may be ignored or modified automatically. GoodTab Class may or may not be being accompanied by other PUPs that load advertisements or include additional 'features.' The responsible developer for GoodTab Class, Minidigital Technology, also historically has promoted other PUPs, such as PUP.Optional.SearchProtect.A and Xtab.
Most PC users report of GoodTab Class's installing itself automatically, and malware researchers have been unable to find any consensual download resources for this product.
Outclassing GoodTab Class While Browsing the Web
GoodTab Class's current categorization is a Potentially Unwanted Program, rather than a threat, which you shouldn't confuse with a Trojan or virus. Even with that fact in mind, GoodTab Class and other plugins that don't allow their removal easily may be security risks that redirect your browser to threatening content. Malware experts advise using anti-malware and anti-adware products for removing GoodTab Class in a similar fashion as they've already recommended with past Minidigital applications.
GoodTab Class may be being circulated with other applications that will not necessarily request consent before placing GoodTab Class in your browser. Fortunately, similar PC security solutions to those that can delete GoodTab Class also can identify many of the bundle tools used by such applications. PC owners also can protect themselves from GoodTab Class by avoiding sites with reputations wealthy in adware, browser hijacker or toolbar-favoring dispositions, along with online piracy resources.
