iFind Searcher

Posted: June 19, 2017

The iFind Searcher is a browser hijacking extension whose installation is unlikely to bring any valuable features. Instead, it will only bring one major change, which will make sure that all searches executed through the browser's address bar will then redirect users to several low-quality search pages, and then lead them to the Yahoo Search finally. While this alteration is not considered to be unsafe, extensions like the iFind Searcher are not useful at all, and their presence on a computer may often cause annoying problems, especially if one of the pages they redirect to goes offline.

A quick check shows that whenever users who have installed the iFind Searcher perform a Web search, their Web browser will redirect them through hxxp://clever-find.com/tuvya/?keyword=test and hxxp://goto.maxdealz.com/v1/hostedsearch, and then take them to the Yahoo Search's results page. It is likely that the purpose of this action is to redirect users to sponsored pages, which generate revenue for the people or companies affiliated with them.

Since the iFind Searcher doesn't offer anything useful, and its sole purpose is to generate revenue for its authors, there's not a single reason to keep this extension installed. The removal of the iFind Searcher is strongly recommended, and you should keep in mind that there are two ways to take care of this. The first option is to uninstall the iFind Searcher via your Web browser's extension manager, while the alternative method is to run an anti-malware scanner, which should erase the intrusive extension automatically.
