The 'Installed by enterprise policy' Extension is an umbrella term for a variety of browser add-ons that try to protect themselves from being deleted. Because this isn't a trait associated with legitimate or safe software, malware researchers strongly urge the removal of any 'Installed by enterprise policy' Extension through all relevant anti-malware solutions. Symptoms of an 'Installed by enterprise policy' Extension may include poor browser performance or advertisements, but even if an 'Installed by enterprise policy' Extension doesn't cause any symptoms of significant inconvenience, this software should be considered a low-level threat to your PC's security and stability.
The Policy that Wants to Take Over Your Browser
An 'Installed by enterprise policy' Extension may refer to WatchItNoAds, Ytnoads, Live Player 3.2, Read&Write for Google Docs and UtubbEAdRemmovalo, among other add-ons. The majority of these appear to be minor variants of each other that share a predilection for modifying the Chrome browser, although small numbers of them also have affected Firefox browsers. The 'Installed by enterprise policy' Extension's characteristic tag line is visible from Chrome's add-on management window, and symptoms that malware experts have noticed may include:
- An 'Installed by enterprise policy' Extension may display advertisements in your browser by modifying a Web page and injecting new advertisement content such as inline text advertisements.
- The 'Installed by enterprise policy' Extension also is linked to pop-up advertisements. Notably, although the 'Installed by enterprise policy' Extension's advertisements aren't definitively malign in all cases, malware experts have verified some cases of the 'Installed by enterprise policy' Extension exposing its users to pop-ups for compromised sites like Warn1now.com (which is a domain for a tech support hoax). Many 'Installed by enterprise policy' Extension pop-ups are limited to appearing at specific sites, such as eBay and YouTube.
- However, the 'Installed by enterprise policy' Extension's worst characteristic isn't what the 'Installed by enterprise policy' Extension does inside your browser, but what the 'Installed by enterprise policy' Extension does when you try to delete the 'Installed by enterprise policy' Extension. The 'Installed by enterprise policy' Extension's most consistent function is its ability to block the removal of its own software from your PC, regardless of whether you use your browser's add-on settings or the operating system's software-uninstalling interface.
Some PC users also have endured other issues related to variants of the 'Installed by enterprise policy' Extension, most commonly, browser performance issues that may cause slow loading times or, in rare cases, crashes.
A Smart Policy for Dealing with the 'Installed by enterprise policy' Extension
Since the 'Installed by enterprise policy' Extension's most often-identified distribution vector is a free software-bundled installer from illegal movie-streaming sites, movie piracy could cost you more than just internal guilt about breaking the law. Browsing any criminal site is one of the quickest ways to get your PC compromised by unwanted or threatening software like the 'Installed by enterprise policy' Extension. Even if you feel that you have legitimate reasons for visiting similarly questionable websites, malware experts would recommend using anti-malware-scanning technology on any files downloaded from them, to catch an 'Installed by enterprise policy' Extension before the 'Installed by enterprise policy' Extension may become troublesome.
The 'Installed by enterprise policy' Extension, no matter what name the 'Installed by enterprise policy' Extension bears, is a drawback to your Web browser and a very significant security issue for the rest of your computer. The proper role of anti-malware software in deleting the 'Installed by enterprise policy' Extension is important, both for overcoming the 'Installed by enterprise policy' Extension's innate defenses, and for verifying that no other software of poor reputation has been installed with the 'Installed by enterprise policy' Extension.
