Threat Metric
The following fields listed on the Threat Meter containing a specific value, are explained in detail below:
Threat Level: The threat level scale goes from 1 to 10 where 10 is the highest level of severity and 1 is the lowest level of severity. Each specific level is relative to the threat's consistent assessed behaviors collected from SpyHunter's risk assessment model.
Detection Count: The collective number of confirmed and suspected cases of a particular malware threat. The detection count is calculated from infected PCs retrieved from diagnostic and scan log reports generated by SpyHunter.
Volume Count: Similar to the detection count, the Volume Count is specifically based on the number of confirmed and suspected threats infecting systems on a daily basis. High volume counts usually represent a popular threat but may or may not have infected a large number of systems. High detection count threats could lay dormant and have a low volume count. Criteria for Volume Count is relative to a daily detection count.
Trend Path: The Trend Path, utilizing an up arrow, down arrow or equal symbol, represents the level of recent movement of a particular threat. Up arrows represent an increase, down arrows represent a decline and the equal symbol represent no change to a threat's recent movement.
% Impact (Last 7 Days): This demonstrates a 7-day period change in the frequency of a malware threat infecting PCs. The percentage impact correlates directly to the current Trend Path to determine a rise or decline in the percentage.

Kaq.Pagerte pop-ups are a symptom of an infection by a PUP, adware program or browser hijacker that launches pop-ups, redirects or other content related to the Pagerte.net website. In the past, malware researchers previously have seen Kaq.Pagerte pop-ups mostly occur as the result of the installation of an undesired browser add-on, but PC threats that generate Kaq.Pagerte pop-ups also may be installed through means such as drive-by-downloads from exploit kits, fake software updates and mislabeled links. Kaq.Pagerte pop-ups have not been found to be used to display extremely hostile web content, but still should be disabled as a basic way of maintaining your web-browsing safety. Most anti-malware products should find a minimum of challenge in stopping Kaq.Pagerte pop-ups, which tend to be linked to basic and low-level threats.
Kaq.Pagerte Pop-Ups: Slipping into Your Browser Through the Thinnest of Cracks
Kaq.Pagerte pop-ups usually are created after the installation, whether intentionally or accidentally, of a browser add-on of questionable value, such as FindLyrics (a plugin that often includes Kaq.Pagerte pop-ups and related side effects). Depending on the manner that they're implemented, Kaq.Pagerte pop-ups may trigger in one type of browser or in all browsers on your PC indiscriminately. Currently, malware experts only have seen PC threats causing Kaq.Pagerte pop-ups in Windows operating systems, including the most recent versions of that OS.
Kaq.Pagerte pop-ups may display unwanted advertisements and other kinds of irrelevant content, but haven't been found to be used as vehicles for the promotion of high-level threats. However, there has been at least one example of Kaq.Pagerte pop-ups being used to display fake Flash Player updates, which are one of the favored vehicles for the installation of many low-level PC threats (browser hijackers, adware and Potentially Unwanted Programs).
Why Kaq.Pagerte Pop-Ups Can Be More than Just a New Window to Close
Kaq.Pagerte pop-ups also often are just one of multiple symptoms of a browser-based infection. Some other side effects that SpywareRemove.com malware researchers find come up commonly along with Kaq.Pagerte pop-ups include:
- Content injections into other sites without your permission. These injections can display links, text advertisements or banners.
- Homepage changes that force your browser to load Pagerte.net and Kaq.Pagerte pop-ups automatically.
- Problems navigating to other sites via links.
- Garbled website content (usually as a side effect of a mismanaged content injection or related attack).
Such nuisances never should be considered a tolerable state for your browser to operate in over prolonged periods of time, and SpywareRemove.com malware researchers also must categorize Kaq.Pagerte pop-ups as a small security risk to boot. To be certain of deleting all components of the PC threat that launches these Kaq.Pagerte pop-ups, you should stop Kaq.Pagerte pop-ups with an appropriate anti-malware scanner at your leisure.
