Linux.GreedyAntd
Linux.GreedyAntd is a cryptomining threat that has the tendency to attack a system only to use it for mining cryptocurrency over the Internet. The issues of Linux.GreedyAntd may reveal their ugly head when a system starts to overheat from being taxed by heavily using its CPU and GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) to perform difficult computations for mining cryptocurrency.
First noticed in September of 2018, Linux.GreedyAntd is leveraged by cybercrooks who are naturally money-hungry and look to use additional infected computers to mine cryptocurrency. In some methods, Linux.GreedyAntd may find other cryptocurrency mining malware and use it in ways to perform additional cryptocurrency mining functions.
Threats like Linux.GreedyAntd should never be left to run amuck on a computer as the longer it stays infected the higher the risk for it crashing or being held liable for malicious activity over the Internet. Use of an updated antimalware resource is required to find and safely remove threats like Linux.GreedyAntd.
