MacFly Pro
The MacFly Pro is considered to be a deceptive Mac application that poses as a useful maintenance utility. According to MacFly Pro's publisher, it has the ability to free up disk space and memory, therefore enhancing the system's overall performance. However, multiple security products identify the MacFly Pro as a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP), and it is also categorized as a 'deceptive' application by the AppEsteem software certification program. It is important to add that AppEsteem's judgment applies to MacFly Pro version 1.0.231 – future versions may address the issues with the software and remove them.
According to AppEsteem, MacFly Pro is considered to be deceptive because of the following issues:
- It uses an exaggerated gauge to make the severity of its scan reports appear more serious. This may leave users under the impression that the recommended fixes are urgent.
- Users cannot fix any results/issues for free, and they are asked to purchase the full product to unlock its additional features.
- The application's notifications are very difficult to disable manually.
- Removing MacFly Pro might not be enough to disable its notifications – the notification service may persist after the software is removed.
It is not recommended to install maintenance and optimization software for macOS – such software is not necessary to maintain your operating system's health and performance. If you recall installing MacFly Pro on your macOS device, we suggest removing this app using a suitable security tool.
