Mal/Iframe-Gen is a JavaScript Trojan which is usually embedded by hackers in genuine websites. Mal/Iframe-Gen may be detected in legitimate websites that have been hacked in order to download additional malicious code. Such websites are often used by attackers as a tool for larger web-based malware attacks. All infected websites are injected with malicious JavaScript, covered in a try to avoid detection. The payload of the injected script of Mal/Iframe-Gen is to write an iframe to the website. The iframe points to what seems to be a 'middleman' server, used to divert the traffic elsewhere. This is usually found as a Traffic Direction System (TDS), which is controlled by cybercriminals that allows them to create it to redirect user traffic to wherever they want.
