MovieQuest

MovieQuest is a browser extension, which is offered by Movie-hub.info. The name of the extension may vary, and some users might find it installed under the name 'Movie-hub.info' instead of 'MovieQuest.' Regardless of the name used, at the end of the day the extension will do the same thing – modify the Google Chrome's default new tab page to a 3rd-party one associated with MovieQuest's publisher. This change does not put the user's online safety in harm's way, but it might diminish the quality of their new tab page since it might not lead them to the content they are used to seeing.

The MovieQuest extension promises users to help them improve their ability to find movies online by granting them access to a dedicated search feature for movies. According to the utility's official website, users can search for specific genres or actors, as well as the year of release, therefore giving them the ability to narrow their search criteria greatly. While it is undeniable that these features are useful, browser extensions that change the browser's settings directly are frowned upon. This is why it should not come as a surprise that the MovieQuest software is detected as a 'Potentially Unwanted Program' (PUP), and multiple anti-virus publishers recommend its removal.

If you opt to continue using the MovieQuest's services, you will not end up being exposed to any suspicious or harmful content. This means that the removal of this add-on is not mandatory but, however, if you do wish to remove it, then you should know that there are two ways to approach the problem. Option one is to use the Google Chrome's extension manager to uninstall MovieQuest manually, and the alternative method is to run an anti-malware tool, which should be able to identify and eliminate MovieQuest automatically.
