Threat Metric
The following fields listed on the Threat Meter containing a specific value, are explained in detail below:
Threat Level: The threat level scale goes from 1 to 10 where 10 is the highest level of severity and 1 is the lowest level of severity. Each specific level is relative to the threat's consistent assessed behaviors collected from SpyHunter's risk assessment model.
Detection Count: The collective number of confirmed and suspected cases of a particular malware threat. The detection count is calculated from infected PCs retrieved from diagnostic and scan log reports generated by SpyHunter.
Volume Count: Similar to the detection count, the Volume Count is specifically based on the number of confirmed and suspected threats infecting systems on a daily basis. High volume counts usually represent a popular threat but may or may not have infected a large number of systems. High detection count threats could lay dormant and have a low volume count. Criteria for Volume Count is relative to a daily detection count.
Trend Path: The Trend Path, utilizing an up arrow, down arrow or equal symbol, represents the level of recent movement of a particular threat. Up arrows represent an increase, down arrows represent a decline and the equal symbol represent no change to a threat's recent movement.
% Impact (Last 7 Days): This demonstrates a 7-day period change in the frequency of a malware threat infecting PCs. The percentage impact correlates directly to the current Trend Path to determine a rise or decline in the percentage.

My-Online-Search.com is a search engine site sometimes associated with browser-hijacking attacks by third parties. Although My-Online-Search.com isn't classified as a threat, malware researchers have long since found that programs making unauthorized changes to your browser trend towards being security hazards, and removing a My-Online-Search.com hijacker from your PC should be second nature, even if My-Online-Search.com doesn't act maliciously. With My-Online-Search.com hijackers not being associated with individual browser toolbars or similar products, passive protections for blocking a My-Online-Search.com hijacker's installation, along with anti-malware products for removing My-Online-Search.com hijackers both are recommended.
When 'My' Online Search Becomes Everyone's Online Search
My-Online-Search.com, a search site without any discernible marketing efforts or prior business connections of any significance, normally would be well beneath the interest of malware researchers. However, My-Online-Search.com's repeated place in the hearts of browser-hijacking campaigns has made My-Online-Search.com worth some modest attention, despite its lack of classification as a compromised website. As a final note of warning, although My-Online-Search.com isn't considered hazardous, its current status as of this article's writing is down, and previous analyzes of My-Online-Search.com's content may not be accurate when, if ever, this site resumes functionality.
My-Online-Search.com typically is the last destination for browser hijackers that may modify your Web browser's default search settings. Redirects to My-Online-Search.com's search results are (as noted above) not guaranteed to be hazardous. However, the ability of a third party program to control which sites your browser loads is – in general – a function that should be considered threatening and never is to your ultimate advantage.
You also may see some other side effects with search redirects to My-Online-Search.com. Pop-ups, hijacked homepages, injected advertising banners and injected links are some of the most common symptoms associated with the types of browser hijackers and other low-level PC threats most likely to affiliate themselves with My-Online-Search.com. Unlike a PUP or browser toolbar, My-Online-Search.com browser hijackers rarely install themselves in formats that make detecting them easy or straightforward.
Taking a My-Online-Search.com-Hijacked Browser Back
Since My-Online-Search.com hijacks may be triggered without the corresponding presence of normal browser add-ons that could be removed by normal methods, recurring My-Online-Search.com redirects are your best, and potentially only way to detect these PC threats by eye. Appropriate anti-malware products should be more than capable of detecting less obvious issues, including any other unnecessary or potentially harmful browser changes that also may be associated with these attacks. Malware experts especially note that casual changes to your browser's default download security settings often are caused in tandem with search engine hijacks.
Although hard-outlined distribution methods for My-Online-Search.com hijackers don't yet exist, malware researchers consider some sources more likely than others for distributing these types of PC threats. Sites with histories of installing bundled software, suspicious update packs distributed through advertisement networks and torrent-downloaded files are some of the usual suspects. Fortunately, anti-malware products and good browsing behavior can protect you from all of the above.
