New Browse Search Extension

Posted: August 28, 2017

The 'New Browse' search extension is the name of a browser hijacker. You can get it on your system through its dedicated Chrome Web Store page or through a software bundle installer that may slip the New Browse on your computer unnoticed. The company that publishes the New Browse search extension is also pushing what is essentially the same browser add-on through a website at EZBrowsing dot com. The second extension is called EZBrowsing Search and also is available on the Chrome store, but both have the same functionality.

When installed, the New Browser search extension will swap out the browser’s default search engine with media.eanswers.com. Additionally, when the installation of the extension finishes, a new tab opens, redirecting the user to games.njoyapps.com/wim/lp/offer/?t1=26&t=gomovix, forcing another unsolicited third-party application on the user.

Potentially Unwanted Programs (PUPs) are low threats relatively and more of an annoyance than anything else, when compared to more harmful threats, but they can still be a nuisance. Removal is best performed with a manual uninstallation of the unwanted browser add-on, followed by a sweep using your security suite of choice.
