OperativeDevice
OperativeDevice is a Mac utility that claims to be useful and helpful, but its true purpose is to bring more traffic to a 3rd-party search engine that is unpopular. The page in question is hosted at Search.adjustablesample.com, and OperativeDevice attempts to popularize it by setting it as your Web browser's default new tab page or search engine. Usually, Windows software does this by tampering with the browser's configuration. Still, the OperativeDevice Mac application works in a different manner – it sets up a new 'Device Profile,' which co that the change will keep going even if you try to reset your browser settings.
OperativeDevice is classified as a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP), so Mac users do not need to worry about removing it manually – this can be a very difficult task since OperativeDevice may place its files in multiple hidden directories, as well as grant itself persistence by using the Mac 'Launch Daemon.' To remove this PUP properly, you should run a suitable Mac security scanner.
