Osmes.pro

Posted: June 8, 2020

Osmes.pro is a domain that can infect your browser, which will lead to an avalanche of unwanted pop-ups. The threat can be classified as a browser hijacker, as it will make using your browser very difficult due to the nearly incessant stream of pop-ups.

When the victims land on an Osmes.pro page, they are encouraged to allow notifications, using the browser’s standard interface for this. To encourage victims to agree to receive notifications, the page pretends to contain video of some sort, and the user is tempted to allow notifications to see the fake video. Of course, there is no real vide, and allowing notifications just leads to frequent and annoying unwanted pop-ups.

If the users do not allow the pop-us, they are presented with a fake "I am not a robot" confirmation box, which, when clicked, loops the victim back to the "allow notifications" pop-up.

If your Chrome browser has become infected with the Osmes.pro pop-ups, you can click the menu button in the upper right corner, select Settings, then Privacy and Security, and choose Site Settings from that section. In the new menu, you can select Notifications and remove Osmes.pro from the list of sites that are allowed to send you browser notifications and pop-ups. This should fix the issue and allow you to browse without any interruptions from Osmes.pro.
