Threat Metric
The following fields listed on the Threat Meter containing a specific value, are explained in detail below:
Threat Level: The threat level scale goes from 1 to 10 where 10 is the highest level of severity and 1 is the lowest level of severity. Each specific level is relative to the threat's consistent assessed behaviors collected from SpyHunter's risk assessment model.
Detection Count: The collective number of confirmed and suspected cases of a particular malware threat. The detection count is calculated from infected PCs retrieved from diagnostic and scan log reports generated by SpyHunter.
Volume Count: Similar to the detection count, the Volume Count is specifically based on the number of confirmed and suspected threats infecting systems on a daily basis. High volume counts usually represent a popular threat but may or may not have infected a large number of systems. High detection count threats could lay dormant and have a low volume count. Criteria for Volume Count is relative to a daily detection count.
Trend Path: The Trend Path, utilizing an up arrow, down arrow or equal symbol, represents the level of recent movement of a particular threat. Up arrows represent an increase, down arrows represent a decline and the equal symbol represent no change to a threat's recent movement.
% Impact (Last 7 Days): This demonstrates a 7-day period change in the frequency of a malware threat infecting PCs. The percentage impact correlates directly to the current Trend Path to determine a rise or decline in the percentage.

Pinterest.aot.im is a website associated with browser hijacks that redirect your browser to Pinterest.aot.im – an attack that endangers the safety of your Web-browsing experience regardless of Pinterest.aot.im's content or lack thereof. While malware experts were unable to find any meaningful content on Pinterest.aot.im, they also found circumstantial evidence around Pinterest.aot.im-hijacking campaigns that may indicate Pinterest.aot.im being used to initiate drive-by-downloads and other malware-related activities. To ensure that your PC continues to be unimpeded by malicious software of any type, it's recommended for you to scan your PC with anti-malware tools after any contact with Pinterest.aot.im and remove Pinterest.aot.im hijackers from your PC as soon as possible.
Malware Analysts' Reasons for Having an Interest in Pinterest.aot.im
Using the rarely-availed domain suffix specific to the Isle of Man, Pinterest.aot.im is a website that currently lacks any form of meaningful content. However, Pinterest.aot.im does have a footprint on the Web thanks to its promotion by browser hijackers, which implement their Pinterest.aot.im-promoting attacks as browser redirects that load Pinterest.aot.im automatically. Since Pinterest.aot.im hijacker redirects often launch repeatedly and regardless of what sites you're trying to use, they may interfere with your browser to the point of making browsing the Web impossible. So far, Pinterest.aot.im hijackers are restricted to attacking Google Chrome, although there's no reason that similar attacks couldn't be made against other major browsers.
Pinterest.aot.im hijackers often are implemented alongside installations of the Internet Helper Toolbar, a browser plugin from the Conduit family. SpywareRemove.com malware researchers are quite well-familiarized with Internet Helper and its relatives through other browser-hijacking campaigns, although it's somewhat rare for Conduit-related browser hijackers to impede your normal Web-browsing behavior in the way that Pinterest.aot.im hijackers accomplish.
When a Possible PUP Bites Worse Than Its Bark
Conduit toolbars and related browser add-ons usually are considered Potentially Unwanted Programs – applications that don't have any benefits to your PC but are not necessarily designed to attack your PC, either. You should exercise a dutiful level of paranoia around any downloads offered by Pinterest.aot.im, including new browser plugins, software updates or seemingly mandatory patches. Instead, acquire these programs from their official sources.
Pinterest.aot.im hijackers are exceptionally tenacious but should not be ignored by switching browsers – even though no non-Chrome Pinterest.aot.im hijacks have been confirmed so far. PC threats capable of causing redirects to Pinterest.aot.im also may be capable of other attacks, and anti-malware tools always should be trusted to delete Pinterest.aot.im hijackers from your computer, enabling you to use Chrome as per usual.
