Polaris Search

Posted: November 13, 2017

The Polaris Search is a browser extension offered by Polarity Technologies LTD. The extension offers to provide users with access to a state-of-the-art search engine, which brings more features than competitors like Google, Yahoo or Bing. However, please do note that the way the Polaris Search functions is rather intrusive because this page requests permission to replace the user's default new tab and search engine with an alternative website. The changes that the Polaris Search imposes are not harmful, but some users are likely to find them annoying. The Polaris Search will:

  • Set the new tab page to Home.polarisearch.com.
  • Set the default search service provider to Feed.polarisearch.com.

Both of these search engines deliver results via Yahoo Search so that users should keep seeing reliable results for their search queries. However, please keep in mind that the Polaris Search is not affiliated with Yahoo so that it is impossible to guarantee that its owners will not change the way it functions in the near future.

The Polaris Search is categorized as a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) so that users who have a functional PC security application in place are likely to be offered to consider the Polaris Search's removal. If you do not wish to eliminate this add-on, then you'll be glad to hear that it is not harmful and its removal is not mandatory. However, if you are not happy with the changes that the Polaris Search brings, then we advise you to remove Polarity's product swiftly – either manually or via a 3rd-party PC security utility.
