'POSSIBLE_VIRUS_DETECTION' Pop-Ups

The 'POSSIBLE_VIRUS_DETECTION' pop-ups are ill-minded messages whose presence in your Web browser might often cause annoying side effects such as being unable to access other tabs or any other type of online content through your Web browser. These side effects are caused by the page that hosts the 'POSSIBLE_VIRUS_DETECTION' pop-ups, and their purpose is to make it seems as if your computer is really infected by a virus. The good news is that this conduct is certainly not a symptom of a malware infection, and it is nothing more than a plain-trick that aims to make the 'POSSIBLE_VIRUS_DETECTION' pop-ups seem more believable.

These pop-ups may show up in your Web browser when you browse untrustworthy websites, and their purpose is to convince you that there is something terribly wrong with your computer and that fixing it should be your top priority. To make the pop-ups and messages seem legitimate, the con artists behind them have created a classic Blue Screen of Death background, which is fake.

The end-goal of these pop-ups is to get you to call a phone line which will supposedly help you get assistance from certified computer experts. However, the phone number that the pop-ups promote is +866-443-3380, and a quick Web search reveals that instead of being mentioned on reputable websites, it is only featured on hoax reports by users who were also exposed to the 'POSSIBLE_VIRUS_DETECTION' pop-ups or similar messages. These technical support tactics work by tricking the user into spending hundreds of dollars for services or software that will supposedly fix their PC issues. As you might have already guessed, the fake computer technicians making these claims are the con artists in question, and they will not provide their victims with anything useful even after they get the money.

If you believe that you've been exposed to a hoax like this in your Web browser, then the suggestion is to disregard the information provided by the fake pop-ups, and then fully restart your Web browser to get rid of the page responsible for the misleading pop-up messages.
