PsdCheckEr is a file-scanning add-on that pretends to analyze Photoshop files for data corruption, but has no real functions to support its marketing claim. Instead, PsdCheckEr delivers advertisements to your Web browser, which may expose you to attempts to track on your information or threat-installing exploits. Since avoiding unwanted and potentially unsafe advertising is required for keeping your browser safe and stable, malware researchers recommend deleting PsdCheckEr, which can be removed most expediently through the features of appropriate PC security products.

Checking Up on the Problems of an Adware-Compromised Browser

While Google has proudly brandished its Chrome browser as a safe alternative to Internet Explorer, adware developers appear to have had a hand in reducing Chrome's safety in the past year. Continuing into 2014, new adware programs like PsdCheckEr continue to be spotted by malware analysts, who estimate that the same individuals most likely are the ones to be blamed for a big number of these extensions, based on their strikingly similar characteristics. Whether PsdCheckEr is based on previous adware or is an original creation, PsdCheckEr is installed through primarily non-consensual techniques, such as Facebook add-on strategies and freeware bundles.

With its installation out of the way, PsdCheckEr may modify Chrome to load new content, all of which consists of advertising content for its third-party affiliates. These advertisements may include ones injected directly into Web pages, as well as new pop-up windows or tabs. PsdCheckEr's advertisements may appear disguised as shopping coupons – even though the actual savings from these advertisements tended to be questionable or even wholly fraudulent.

Advertising functions are not sufficient to classify PsdCheckEr as a threat, but they do endanger your Web browser and may harm its performance, regardless. Deleting PsdCheckEr and all other adware is, therefore, suggested by default. However, PsdCheckEr is installed in multiple components, some of which are capable of reinstalling any removed ones, which makes manual methods of deleting PsdCheckEr relatively impractical.

Getting Past Your Online PTSD of PsdCheckEr

Since its advertisements are invasive and its removal requires additional, semi-onerous steps, PsdCheckEr easily may cause frustration for PC users who aren't accustomed to managing typical adware. Avoiding PsdCheckEr, ignoring its advertisements or using a browser unaffected by PsdCheckEr advertisements all are improper solutions, and malware experts must stress that PsdCheckEr is a security risk until PsdCheckEr is completely uninstalled. PsdCheckEr also has been known to be bundled with large amounts of other Potentially Unwanted Programs, which adds emphasis to the necessity of comprehensive disinfection methods.

Thorough anti-adware scans should be enough to detect and delete PsdCheckEr, but you might want to use additional security software to determine whether or not other PC threats also were installed with PsdCheckEr. Chrome continues to be the only browser confirmed to be affected by PsdCheckEr, but other Web browsers, especially ones for major operating systems, also have seen a fair share of being targeted by adware developers.
