Threat Metric
The following fields listed on the Threat Meter containing a specific value, are explained in detail below:
Threat Level: The threat level scale goes from 1 to 10 where 10 is the highest level of severity and 1 is the lowest level of severity. Each specific level is relative to the threat's consistent assessed behaviors collected from SpyHunter's risk assessment model.
Detection Count: The collective number of confirmed and suspected cases of a particular malware threat. The detection count is calculated from infected PCs retrieved from diagnostic and scan log reports generated by SpyHunter.
Volume Count: Similar to the detection count, the Volume Count is specifically based on the number of confirmed and suspected threats infecting systems on a daily basis. High volume counts usually represent a popular threat but may or may not have infected a large number of systems. High detection count threats could lay dormant and have a low volume count. Criteria for Volume Count is relative to a daily detection count.
Trend Path: The Trend Path, utilizing an up arrow, down arrow or equal symbol, represents the level of recent movement of a particular threat. Up arrows represent an increase, down arrows represent a decline and the equal symbol represent no change to a threat's recent movement.
% Impact (Last 7 Days): This demonstrates a 7-day period change in the frequency of a malware threat infecting PCs. The percentage impact correlates directly to the current Trend Path to determine a rise or decline in the percentage.

PUP.Downloader.ZYL is unwanted software that displays attributes typical to adware and Trojan downloaders, which may display advertisements automatically and may install other programs. Since either of these functions may constitute a significant security risk and may also harm your browser's performance, removing PUP.Downloader.ZYL ordinarily is suggested. Variants of PUP.Downloader.ZYL installations may include attempts to avoid deletion, which is why malware experts encourage the use of proper anti-adware products for deleting this software.
PUP.Downloader.ZYL: the Multiplying Adware
PUP.Downloader.ZYL is a heuristic detection, or a name that may be applied to multiple forms of adware or low-level threat, including Adware.Tuto4PC, Adware.OpenCandy and Adware.Win32.MultiBarDownloader.AhGb. In most cases, PUP.Downloader.ZYL either is a bundled program that installs third-party adware or is, itself, a component of adware. Download and installation controls for PUP.Downloader.ZYL's payloads frequently are poorly-implemented, which malware experts found to result in the installation of multiple adware programs, over time. Basic system scans sometimes find up to dozens of separate detections of PUP.Downloader.ZYL and affiliated PUPs at one time.
With any adware-affiliated program, the display of online advertisements continues to be the predominant symptom of its installation. Symptoms that malware experts warn to watch for with PUP.Downloader.ZYL installations consist of:
- Pop-up window advertisements may launch automatically.
- Advertising links may inject themselves into a website's text.
- You also may see the injection of new 'sponsored' search results or graphical content, such as banners.
- Changes to your browser's interface, such as the addition of unwanted toolbars or bookmarks, also may occur.
Although PUP.Downloader.ZYL is adware, rather than a threat, PUP.Downloader.ZYL may include characteristics that are standard with some Trojans, such as the ability to install third-party programs automatically. These programs may provide symptoms of their own, such as hijacked browser homepages.
Taking the Adware PUP for a Walk Away from Your Browser
PUP.Downloader.ZYL may be associated with brands of software that have poor histories for respecting the integrity of their users' PCs. Software bundles that circulated through sources such as piracy-oriented networks or freeware websites are particularly likely sources of PUP.Downloader.ZYL installers, which may not require your intervention before placing PUP.Downloader.ZYL on your hard drive. Anti-adware utilities that are allowed the opportunity to scan these files before you launch them should be able to identify PUP.Downloader.ZYL or other bundled software.
If PUP.Downloader.ZYL already is on your hard drive, malware researchers find that using Safe Mode-assisted system scans by appropriate security products to be the simplest way to remove PUP.Downloader.ZYL. Since unprotected exposure to PUP.Downloader.ZYL advertisements may allow third parties an opportunity to install other software or even attack your PC, you should undertake any system scans with as little delay as possible. Suitable browser security features and add-ons also can be considered for preventing PUPs like PUP.Downloader.ZYL from causing any undue harm to your computer while you're conducting the uninstallation process.
