Threat Metric
The following fields listed on the Threat Meter containing a specific value, are explained in detail below:
Threat Level: The threat level scale goes from 1 to 10 where 10 is the highest level of severity and 1 is the lowest level of severity. Each specific level is relative to the threat's consistent assessed behaviors collected from SpyHunter's risk assessment model.
Detection Count: The collective number of confirmed and suspected cases of a particular malware threat. The detection count is calculated from infected PCs retrieved from diagnostic and scan log reports generated by SpyHunter.
Volume Count: Similar to the detection count, the Volume Count is specifically based on the number of confirmed and suspected threats infecting systems on a daily basis. High volume counts usually represent a popular threat but may or may not have infected a large number of systems. High detection count threats could lay dormant and have a low volume count. Criteria for Volume Count is relative to a daily detection count.
Trend Path: The Trend Path, utilizing an up arrow, down arrow or equal symbol, represents the level of recent movement of a particular threat. Up arrows represent an increase, down arrows represent a decline and the equal symbol represent no change to a threat's recent movement.
% Impact (Last 7 Days): This demonstrates a 7-day period change in the frequency of a malware threat infecting PCs. The percentage impact correlates directly to the current Trend Path to determine a rise or decline in the percentage.

GotClip or GotClip Downloader is a Potentially Unwanted Program that provides features for downloading movies from streaming Web sources (such as YouTube) but also makes various negative modifications to your browser. Because GotClip has confirmed ties to unsafe Web domains and is recognized as either a PUP or threat by many PC security companies, harboring GotClip to enjoy its download features isn't encouraged by malware researchers. As a safe second choice, you should consider investing in a movie-downloading manager with a better reliability than GotClip, and removing GotClip with a dependable anti-malware program as soon as you have a convenient opportunity.
When Getting a Movie Clip Gets You Danger with It
GotClip is a PUP that offers the popular feature of downloading movies from streaming Web sources that, otherwise, would force you to reload the website to watch a favorite movie. Even though GotClip's movie-downloading features seem to be legitimate, malware researchers note that this common feature can be found on many less risky programs than GotClip, as well as on some websites that don't require you to download any software whatsoever. Accordingly, GotClip's benefits scarcely are worth what GotClip exacts from you in terms of its costs. Presented below are some of the most notable negative characteristics around GotClip and its company:
- GotClip may be detected as either a PUP or as threatening software by many PC security companies, and its installer sometimes may be identified as a Trojan or other PC threat.
- GotClip may make modifications to your browser's starting homepage and also may hijack your searches.
- The GotClip website may make calls to unreliable sites that are known harbors for illegal online activities, such as threat distribution or scamming visitors. These calls may include attempts to install GotClip or other unwanted software onto your computer automatically.
- GotClip may be distributed through disreputable sources, with other websites promoting GotClip's variants all being confirmed infection vectors that may endanger your computer.
Cleanly Clipping GotClip out of Your Browser
PUPs often obscure their selfish functions and sometimes outright attacks by offering some simple but legitimate benefits. Even if you find some advantages to be had in GotClip's movie-downloading functions, the overwhelming evidence favors GotClip as a danger to your computer or indirectly assisting other PC threats, a cost far too high to pay for its features. Using anti-malware tools while removing GotClip always is encouraged, as malware researchers find that similar PUPs generally fail to remove all of their files or settings changes during normal uninstall routines.
With that said, deleting GotClip only should be needed when you've already failed to protect your PC from most obvious sources of infection and PUP distribution. Researching software prior to installing it, scanning installers with anti-malware products and avoiding unsafe websites are the easiest ways to keep GotClip out of your browser – and doesn't have to reduce your personal movie collection.
