PUP.Outbox is known to be a potentially unwanted application that may show unwanted pop-up advertisements and banners carrying various discount coupons, offers and deals when PC users are browsing online shopping websites or any other websites. PUP.Outbox may install itself in Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome without the computer user's authorization. PUP.Outbox may be usually spread to the computer system through bundled free programs that PC users can download from the Internet. When the computer user chooses to install free software, it might include additional toolbars, browser extensions, plug-ins or add-ons embedded into the installation wizard. These additional apps, in this case PUP.Outbox, might be marked as optional tools, but if the computer user does not uncheck a check box, which offers to include extra applications, he may end up with undesired system modifications. PUP.Outbox may keep track of the PC user's surfing habits and forward gathered data to third-parties for the purpose of targeted marketing.
