Threat Metric
The following fields listed on the Threat Meter containing a specific value, are explained in detail below:
Threat Level: The threat level scale goes from 1 to 10 where 10 is the highest level of severity and 1 is the lowest level of severity. Each specific level is relative to the threat's consistent assessed behaviors collected from SpyHunter's risk assessment model.
Detection Count: The collective number of confirmed and suspected cases of a particular malware threat. The detection count is calculated from infected PCs retrieved from diagnostic and scan log reports generated by SpyHunter.
Volume Count: Similar to the detection count, the Volume Count is specifically based on the number of confirmed and suspected threats infecting systems on a daily basis. High volume counts usually represent a popular threat but may or may not have infected a large number of systems. High detection count threats could lay dormant and have a low volume count. Criteria for Volume Count is relative to a daily detection count.
Trend Path: The Trend Path, utilizing an up arrow, down arrow or equal symbol, represents the level of recent movement of a particular threat. Up arrows represent an increase, down arrows represent a decline and the equal symbol represent no change to a threat's recent movement.
% Impact (Last 7 Days): This demonstrates a 7-day period change in the frequency of a malware threat infecting PCs. The percentage impact correlates directly to the current Trend Path to determine a rise or decline in the percentage.

SpeedUpMyComputer is a rogue Registry optimizer that detects fictitious errors on your system Registry while claiming that correcting these errors will enhance your computer's performance. Malware researchers always encourage researching the real features of such dubious software before giving it any money, and SpeedUpMyComputer is a clear example of another product that has no beneficial functions, though SpeedUpMyComputer does not attempt to attack your computer. Since following SpeedUpMyComputer's advice may result in the installation of inappropriate updates or other system problems, you should uninstall SpeedUpMyComputer, ideally with an anti-malware product that can perform its stated duties.
The PC Tuneup that Charges You for Nothing
Some PC security companies classify SpeedUpMyComputer as a Potentially Unwanted Program similar to a toolbar or adware. SpeedUpMyComputer has not been found to possess any functions meant to attack your PC directly, such as attacks that block other applications, but SpeedUpMyComputer has a history of displaying intentionally inaccurate scanner results in order to engender panic in its users. After system scans that always find numerous examples of system problems such as improper driver versions or unneeded Registry entries, SpeedUpMyComputer will claim that SpeedUpMyComputer can improve your computer's performance by deleting these fake problems.
However, before doing so, SpeedUpMyComputer requires that you make a purchase of its premium software, which automatically charges on a monthly subscription basis via PayPal. Any PC users who take SpeedUpMyComputer at its word will find that SpeedUpMyComputer cannot provide any real performance boosts, and that SpeedUpMyComputer's recommended 'updates' for video drivers and other system components are incorrect. As a direct result, malware researchers caution that installing software recommended by SpeedUpMyComputer may cause unexpected system problems, including graphical or performance errors.
Getting off the Scamware Highway
You might install SpeedUpMyComputer through its associated sites (speedupmycomputer.net or smarttweak.com), but malware researchers also have seen SpeedUpMyComputer's installation handled by software bundles. Most anti-malware and anti-adware programs should be able to identify a free bundle utility that could install SpeedUpMyComputer, although avoiding download sources that are invested in distributing threats is, perhaps, the best solution. However, because SpeedUpMyComputer does not include functions that cause deliberate harm to your computer, some anti-malware products may not identify SpeedUpMyComputer as threatening – even though installing SpeedUpMyComputer has no benefits, and sizeable drawbacks for any PC.
As an application that extends across the margin between a threat and mere PUP junk, SpeedUpMyComputer shows how online hoaxes continue to profit off of the simple ignorance of many computer users. Because of the frequent abuse of Registry-cleaning software for enacting these types of tactics, malware experts always would recommend double-checking the reputation of any article that affirms to be able to repair your Registry.
