PUP/Win32.WindowsTap is a potentially unwanted program (PUP), which may be installed on a PC without the computer user's awareness or consent. PUP/Win32.WindowsTap may also be commonly installed legally being included in another application, often designated as an 'AD-Supported program', in which the End User License Agreement usually encourages the computer user to accept that, in addition to the software product, the computer user is downloading. Uninstallation of PUP/Win32.WindowsTap may result in harm of the AD-Supported application which was installed with PUP/Win32.WindowsTap. While being installed, PUP/Win32.WindowsTap may monitor certain types of information such as the PC user's access to certain websites. PUP/Win32.WindowsTap may deliver and display random pop-up ads which may carry a malicious code or sponsored links that redirect PC users to commercial websites created by attackers to possibly earn money from click fraud and raised web traffic.
