RequestTop

RequestTop is a Mac application that may be installed without your knowledge. Usually, this happens when you are installing freeware or shareware application bundles that offer RequestTop as an optional component – often, the offer to install this software is cleverly disguised, and you may unknowingly give you approval. Once RequestTop is installed, it will manipulate your Mac's default search Web browser to redirect all searches to a Safe Finder search engine. On top of this, the RequestTop Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) will gain persistence by setting up a new Launch Daemon and Device Profile.

Often, apps like RequestTop collect Web browsing data that may be used for marketing purposes – this is another example of this application's intrusive behavior. RequestTop is classified as a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP,) and it is strongly recommended to take the necessary steps to complete its full removal.

Since some of RequestTop components may be very stubborn when you try to remove them manually, it is recommended to complete the task with the assistance of a certified Mac anti-malware tool.
