Online prize raffles are one of the most common tricks that con artists use to spread fraudulent content that is meant to mislead their targets into following the fraudsters' instructions. One of the websites adopting such a strategy is Rewardsawesome.com – it may display pop-ups and alerts stating that the user has won a great prize, and then asks them to follow the on-screen instructions. It appears that Rewardsawesome.com has pre-made pages that are designed to look as if they are associated with a famous brand like Amazon, YouTube, Walmart and others. If the users attempt to fetch their prize, they may be asked to fill out a survey that may take a few minutes to complete – upon completion, the user might be redirected to another survey, and this may happen multiple times.

It seems that the Rewardsawesome.com pages do not attempt to spread any suspicious software installers or updates, so it is not clear why the fraudsters are running these tactics. It is possible that they may be gaining revenue based on the number of surveys filled out by users.

We advise you always to be careful when you see browser pop-ups that congratulate you for winning a great prize - these are almost always fake, and they will ask you to follow several steps to collect the reward. While the Rewardsawesome.com pop-ups do not ask for any special information, there are tons of similar scams that aim to collect personal details or even payment information.
