SearchOptical

SearchOptical is a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) that only affects computers running Apple's OSX. The good news is that this program is not associated with harmful activity. Still, it may use dodgy ways to receive permission to drop its files on your computer – in some cases it may come as a component of a software bundle, while, in other situations, it may be spread as an illegitimate update for a popular piece of software. Regardless of the trick used to get to your computer, the consequences of SearchOptical's installation are always the same – it latches itself to the Safari Web browser, and keeps an eye on your browsing history, browsing habits and frequently visited websites. It also seems to have permission to apply changes to Web page contents, and it might use this ability to inject advertisements, pop-ups, alerts and other marketing content.

PUPs for Mac are becoming a rather common occurrence, and investing in a Mac security tool is something that you should consider immediately – cyberattacks against Apple's devices have been increasing rapidly in the past few years, and OSX is not the impenetrable fortress it was once thought to be.

If you think that SearchOptical is present on your computer, you should complete its removal with the use of a reputable anti-virus tool since it can ensure the full removal of this PUP's components.
