Search.privacy-search.net

Search.privacy-search.net is a search page that may appear in your Web browser if you installed a browser extension that promises to protect your privacy while navigating and searching the Web. In recent weeks we've covered several browser utilities, and many of them appear to be just rebranded variants of each other – Privacy Search Plus, Searchprivacy.co. Users who opt to install this application may be misled into thinking that they'll be enhancing their privacy but, in fact, all they'll see is that their new tab page will be set to Search.privacy-search.net. The good news is that while this page may be rather unpopular, it is not associated with harmful content or activities.

Using Search.privacy-search.net on a daily basis might not be the most enjoyable experience since this search engine's default search feature does not work as expected. Regardless of the search query, it always displays blank results and prompts users to use either Yahoo, Bing or Google. While this is not a major issue, some users might find it annoying, and they might prefer to restore their previous new tab page, which worked as expected probably.

If you begin to see Search.privacy-search.net while you browse the Web regularly, and you don't recall setting this website as your new tab page on purpose, then you should take a look at the installed browser extensions since you might have installed a 'privacy enhancing' utility unknowingly. This is not unsafe, but you should keep in mind that the software associated with Search.privacy-search.net is classified as a Potentially Unwanted Program, and its installation may have some undesired side effects (i.e. changing the default new tab page). If you wish to remove Search.privacy-search.net and the extension that brought it, then you'll be glad to hear this can be done by identifying the intrusive extension from your the Web browser's add-on manager. If this does not work, then running an anti-virus software suite should be enough to identify and remove the Potentially Unwanted Program linked to Search.privacy-search.net.
