Threat Metric
The following fields listed on the Threat Meter containing a specific value, are explained in detail below:
Threat Level: The threat level scale goes from 1 to 10 where 10 is the highest level of severity and 1 is the lowest level of severity. Each specific level is relative to the threat's consistent assessed behaviors collected from SpyHunter's risk assessment model.
Detection Count: The collective number of confirmed and suspected cases of a particular malware threat. The detection count is calculated from infected PCs retrieved from diagnostic and scan log reports generated by SpyHunter.
Volume Count: Similar to the detection count, the Volume Count is specifically based on the number of confirmed and suspected threats infecting systems on a daily basis. High volume counts usually represent a popular threat but may or may not have infected a large number of systems. High detection count threats could lay dormant and have a low volume count. Criteria for Volume Count is relative to a daily detection count.
Trend Path: The Trend Path, utilizing an up arrow, down arrow or equal symbol, represents the level of recent movement of a particular threat. Up arrows represent an increase, down arrows represent a decline and the equal symbol represent no change to a threat's recent movement.
% Impact (Last 7 Days): This demonstrates a 7-day period change in the frequency of a malware threat infecting PCs. The percentage impact correlates directly to the current Trend Path to determine a rise or decline in the percentage.

The Search.searchgmfs, com website is associated with a potentially unwanted program called Get Maps Fast. This application is only available to Google Chrome users, and it is meant to enhance the browser's feature-list by allowing the user to quickly access various online maps which can help them receive details regarding the current traffic conditions, bus routes, and other data that could help them plan their commute or a short trip. While this may sound useful, a closer look at Get Maps Fast reveals that this add-on does not host any of the content it claims to provide and, instead, it simply refers its users to 3rd-party services like Google Maps, and others. Although this is not necessarily misleading, there are other things that would make most users stay away from Get Maps Fast.
This software is a product of Polarity Technologies LTD, a software publisher whose name is linked to a long list of potentially unwanted programs (PUPs) whose installation might bring unwanted changes to the configuration of Google Chrome and other web browsers. The change which Get Maps Fast introduces involves Search.searchgmfs, com – this website will be set as the default new tab page of the user's web browser. While this change is not dangerous, it is understandable why most users would not enjoy it – It forces them to use an alternative search service with unknown credibility. Polarity seem to be behind a large number of 'map' extensions with questionable functionality:
- 'Find Directions FastV3.0' that changes the new tab to Search.searchfdf.com
- 'Get Maps FastV2' that changes the new tab to Search.searchgmf.com
- 'Go Maps V2.1' that changes the new tab to Search.hgomaps.co
- 'Go Maps V8.0' that changes the new tab to Search.hgomaps.co
- 'Go Maps' that changes the new tab to Search.hgomaps.co
- 'Quick Maps' Search.searchquickm.com
- 'Directions Express' that changes the new tab to Search.searchdirex.com
- 'Directions Mapper' that changes the new tab to Search.searchdirma.com
- 'Easy Maps Access' that changes the new tab to Search.easymapsaccess.com
- 'Local Maps Access' that changes the new tab to Search.searchlma.com
- 'Maps Driving Directions' that changes the new tab to Search.searchmmap.com
- 'My Maps XP' that changes the new tab to Search.mymapsxp.com
- 'Your Maps Now' that changes the new tab to Search.yourmapsnow.com
If you've installed Get Maps Fast and you are looking for a way to revert the changes It brought, then you will need to uninstall this PUP. Since we are not talking about a malicious application, you can carry out its removal manually, via Chrome's add-on manager. You can also accomplish the same result by using a credible antivirus product to scan and clean the computer off of dubious software.
