How Unsafe is the Search In Tabs PUP

The Search In Tabs is a Potentially Unwanted Program(PUP), which advertises itself as a tool that allows you to 'easily search opened tabs by URL or title' that you can install on your computer accidentally and find it hard to get rid of. As with most similar programs, it may get on your PC via bundled software automatically without even notifying you about its installation. What can be even more annoying is that the Search In Tabs PUP can be installed with the use of Windows group policies forcefully, which makes it even harder to remove. This is because the Search In Tabs doesn't provide the users with a 'Remove' button option if you try to remove it from Chrome. Instead, you get a message saying 'Installed by enterprise policy' or 'Installed by your administrator.'

Once the Search In Tabs PUP has secured itself on your PC, it will start displaying its typical behavior, which includes injecting banner advertisements in the Web pages that you are visiting, turning random text into hyperlinks, and changing your default search engine and homepage. It also may redirect or track your search queries, and display browser pop-ups that recommend fake software, updates or technical support tactics. It's worth to note that the website that advertises the Search In Tabs PUP looks rather suspicious. This because neither the button that links to the software in the Chrome Web Store or the 'Add to Chrome' button are working. All the activity of the Search In Tabs PUP, coupled with its bogus website indicates that the people behind the Search In Tabs are up to no good and you should do your best to protect your computer from their product.
