SecureDossier

Posted: April 1, 2019

SecureDossier has been identified as a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) despite it being marketed as a system optimizer by its creators, Secure Solutions Inc. However, the creators of SecureDossier do not depend on marketing only to sell their product. One could say that they have taken a more aggressive marketing approach. It would seem that the most common propagation method of SecureDossier is by offering a completely separate application, such as an HD media player, that turns out to be SecureDossier in disguise. It also could come in bundled with other software, which has covered up the fact that there are additional applications being installed stealthily.

The free version of SecureDossier only serves as a scanner. If SecureDossier has gained access to your system, it would claim that it has scanned your computer and some problems have been discovered. Reports like this, from potentially unwanted applications, tend to be exaggerated considerably so that the user may fear for the safety of their PCs and be pushed into purchasing a license for the PUP. This is simply social engineering, and it is a common practice for shady authors of various software.

However, this is not the only exaggeration that is a routine for PUPs like the SecureDossier kind. This software would often lead you to believe that it is much more useful than it is. They put a great emphasis on their PC optimization qualities. It is often claimed that they can fix and optimize the Windows Registry, free up disk space by getting rid of junk files, optimize the Windows startup entries, report and fix various Windows-related minor issues, which may improve the performance and health of your computer. SecureDossier may deliver on some of these promises, but it will not be an improvement that will be felt when using your computer.

It is not recommended to pay for SecureDossier, and it is best to remove it from your system using a legitimate anti-spyware tool.
