Selected Search

Posted: September 8, 2017

The Selected Search is a Web browser utility, which is supposed to enhance the user's ability to navigate and search the Web by providing them with instant access to the search tools of multiple popular search engines. However, users who opt to install the Selected Search may find out that this enhancement happens by altering the settings of their Web browser drastically. The publisher of the Selected Search has only released a version compatible with Google Chrome, and users of other Web browser are unlikely to be bothered by the changes that the Selected Search is known to introduce to the Web browsers.

Google Chrome users who opt to give the Selected Search a chance may find out that the installation of this application may bring some unforeseen changes to their browser's behavior. First of all, all searches made through the address bar will first refer the users to Search.selected-search.co, and then take them to a search results page hosted by Bing.com. In addition to this change, the default Chrome new tab will be replaced by a search engine associated with the Selected Search. This new page gives users the ability to search the Web by choosing which search engine they'd like to use – Bing, Yahoo or Google. The search feature appears to work fine, and the website does not seem to host any ads or dubious content that should be avoided.

However, using the Selected Search is not unsafe, and you can continue to use this software if you are happy with what it has to offer. However, if you wish to restore your previous search and new tab settings, then you might need to consider removing the Selected Search from Chrome. This task can be carried out via the browser's settings panel, or with the assistance of a suitable PC security scanner.
