Threat Metric
The following fields listed on the Threat Meter containing a specific value, are explained in detail below:
Threat Level: The threat level scale goes from 1 to 10 where 10 is the highest level of severity and 1 is the lowest level of severity. Each specific level is relative to the threat's consistent assessed behaviors collected from SpyHunter's risk assessment model.
Detection Count: The collective number of confirmed and suspected cases of a particular malware threat. The detection count is calculated from infected PCs retrieved from diagnostic and scan log reports generated by SpyHunter.
Volume Count: Similar to the detection count, the Volume Count is specifically based on the number of confirmed and suspected threats infecting systems on a daily basis. High volume counts usually represent a popular threat but may or may not have infected a large number of systems. High detection count threats could lay dormant and have a low volume count. Criteria for Volume Count is relative to a daily detection count.
Trend Path: The Trend Path, utilizing an up arrow, down arrow or equal symbol, represents the level of recent movement of a particular threat. Up arrows represent an increase, down arrows represent a decline and the equal symbol represent no change to a threat's recent movement.
% Impact (Last 7 Days): This demonstrates a 7-day period change in the frequency of a malware threat infecting PCs. The percentage impact correlates directly to the current Trend Path to determine a rise or decline in the percentage.

The Smart PC Mechanic is a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP), which might be advertised as a useful utility that can help users optimize the Windows Registry, get rid of junk files, and optimize the overall performance and stability of the computer. While these things might sound good at first, what the Smart PC Mechanic might forget to tell you is that only its trial version is offered for free, and it does not possess the ability to carry out any of the actions mentioned above. Instead, the Smart PC Mechanic's free version only works as a scanner that can create a report that lists all the recommended fixes and optimizations. After completing the first scan, the Smart PC Mechanic may begin to display reminders regularly, which urge the users pay for the full version of the product to optimize their computers. Although the Smart PC Mechanic is not harmful, we would not recommend purchasing its full version due to several reasons:
- The Smart PC Mechanic is not owned by a reputable company so that the quality of its services is questionable.
- Microsoft have stated repeatedly that Registry optimizers are not needed, and they might have a negative impact on the computer.
- There are plenty of free alternatives that can carry out the tasks that the Smart PC Mechanic promises to take care of.
The recommended thing to do if you have the Smart PC Mechanic running on your computer is to uninstall it unless you plan on purchasing the full version. Keeping the Smart PC Mechanic's trial version means that you will continue to be bothered by notifications and reminders that there are pending optimizations. Keep in mind that the full version of the application has a price tag of $45, which is quite a significant price for such a simple piece of software.
If you are planning on removing the Smart PC Mechanic, then you should know that this task can be accomplished manually since PUPs like this one are not unsafe. However, if you don't want to bother with manual removal, you can rest assured that a reputable PC security tool will be able to take care of the Smart PC Mechanic's removal.
