ScreenshotSmitfraudFixTool, also known as Smitfraud Fix Tool, SmitfraudFix Tool or Smitfraud FixTool, is a rogue anti-spyware program that tricks you into believing it's the legitimate SmitFraudFix, a free spyware remover application. SmitfraudFixTool may be installed by a Trojan found in a fake video or audio codec download. Once the Trojan is installed, you'll receive numerous popups informing you about supposed spyware infections found in your computer system.

SmitfraudFixTool's popups will most likely redirect you to SmitfraudFixTool's website or other fraudulent websites that sell SmitfraudFixTool as a legitimate spyware remover.

SmitfraudFixTool is also able to emulate a computer system scan and generate a list of spyware infections as a result. SmitfraudFixTool's results are fake, SmitfraudFixTool is not able to detect nor remove any malware from your system. SmitfraudFixTool's popups and fake computer scans are mechanisms used by SmitfraudFixTool to push you to buy SmitfraudFixTool's full program to supposedly solve your spyware issues.
