The Smooth Curves New Tab is a browser add-on that does not appear to offer any useful features. The only change that it will introduce is a new button which, when clicked, will open up a new tab that displays a flawless and soothing animation that can be used as a screensaver or to put it up for a while when you are taking a break from work. While there aren't any suspicious changes that the Smooth Curves New Tab applies, multiple anti-malware products have tagged the Smooth Curves add-on as a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP), and they recommend its removal.
One of the dubious things about the Smooth Curves New Tab is the way it is being promoted. The extension is hosted on the official Chrome store, but it appears to be promoted via misleading advertisements which take the user to funny.greatmaxapp.com. This page asks them to perform a 'security check,' which then asks them to download and install the Smooth Curves New Tab extension. Declining the offer will not close the page and, instead, the visitor will see another prompt asking them to accept the installation of this Chrome extension.
If you have installed Smooth Curves New Tab, then we advise you to remove it since it does not add any useful features to your Web browser. The fact that its developers are spreading it via misleading messages is likely to mean that there's something fishy about it. In addition to this, it is not a coincidence that popular PC security software recommends the Smooth Curves New Tab's removal. If you are looking to remove this add-on from your PC, then you should know that this task can also be accomplished manually by using Google Chrome's Extension Manager.
