The SMSS-DoOoM malware may be deployed via thumb drives, and it can change all files into shortcuts that allow the malware to be installed on the system it is plugged in. The SMSS-DoOoM malware may modify files on internal hard drives and can be detected by security solutions as smss-DoOoMp.lnk, smss-DoOoMs.vbs, smss-DoOoM.lnk and smss-DoOoM.vbe. SMSS-DoOoM is recognized as a worm that can install a keylogger program on the infected machine that can record keyboard typing and extract user credentials. The SMSS-DoOoM worm can be instructed by its operators via a remote server to install additional malware. A potent defense would be the usage of a powerful anti-malware utility.
