SockShare
SockShare is an adware application whose installation may often occur without the user's knowledge. Usually, this is done by using fake instructions and messages to trick the user into agreeing to install SockShare – this software may sometimes be found in software bundles, but its installer also may be spread via fake software updates that are promoted via bogus websites. Regardless of the method used to deliver the SockShare adware to your computer, the results of SockShare's activity will always be the same.
As soon as SockShare is started, it will begin to inject advertisements into active Web browser instances – the adware is likely to be compatible with all modern Web browsers like Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Microsoft Edge and Chromium-based Web browsers. The adware may use a wide range of advertising techniques to ensure that the user will end up seeing as many advertisements as possible. It may use:
- Full-screen overlays.
- Banners
- In-text advertisements.
- Hyperlinked words and phrases from the original site.
- Pop-ups.
It is possible that the advertisements might be marked with the stamp 'Ads by SockShare,' 'SockShare Ads' or 'Powered by SockShare.' Needless to say, this adware displays disruptive behavior that may make it difficult to enjoy browsing your favorite websites. To eliminate the SockShare adware from your system, you should run a reputable anti-malware scanner that will help you identify and eliminate all of the adware's components.
