ScreenshotSoftBarrier is a fake security application that comes from the family of rogue anti-spyware programs known as WiniGuard, Soft Cop, Save Defense and others. Trojan horse infections are known to automatically install the SoftBarrier program onto computers over the internet. Once this process has taken place, computer users are usually prompted by fake parasite notifications. In addition, system scans are initiated by SoftBarrier that return bogus parasite results. These efforts are performed only to persuade computer users to purchase a full version of SoftBarrier.

SoftBarrier is not a security program that is capable of detecting or removing legitimate computer parasites. Removal of SoftBarrier is recommended to be performed with a spyware scan tool to limit damage caused by manual removal processes.
