Sparkcargo.pw

Posted: February 6, 2020

Sparkcargo.pw is a Web page designed to propagate bogus updates for the popular Adobe Flash Player. The website may use different social engineering tricks to get users to accept the download – one of the most common tricks that such tactics use is to redirect the user to a fake video player that pretends to load a video. After a few seconds, the Sparkcargo.pw spawns a pop-up that tells users that their Adobe Flash Player is outdated, and they need to install the latest update immediately to continue. However, the file that the Sparkcargo.pw pop-up advertises is not a reputable update package most certainly – it may contain harmful software or a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) that may modify your computer's behavior in an unpredictable way.

According to images published by users who encountered Sparkcargo.pw, the website may be designed to target Mac users in particular since the Adobe Flash Player pop-up has the colors and style of Mac alert boxes. However, it is possible that the administrators of Sparkcargo.pw also may use Windows-style pop-ups that only appear if the visitor uses the Windows operating system.

The best way to make sure that you will not download a fake and threatening software update is to make sure that you always fetch such updates from the software vendor's official website. You should never agree to update offers spawned by random websites with a non-existent reputation.
